Dublin Is Getting a Direct Bus Downtown
Starting September 7, you’ll be able to get on a COTA bus in Dublin and ride all the way to Downtown Columbus without changing buses.
COTA is extending Line 1 to Ohio State’s Outpatient Care Dublin on University Boulevard. From there, it’ll run through Ohio State’s campus, the Short North and Downtown, with buses every 30 minutes, seven days a week.
It’s a pretty significant expansion of public transit into Dublin — although whether Dubliners actually use it is another question. In a community where most people are accustomed to driving pretty much everywhere, it’ll be interesting to see whether the additional service — and the tax dollars paying for it — actually gets people out of their cars.
For people who work Downtown, go to Ohio State or simply don’t want to deal with parking for a night in the Short North, that could perhaps be useful. For plenty of others, the car will probably remain the easier choice.
Either way, starting next month, Dublin and Downtown Columbus will be one bus ride apart.

Scams have gotten sophisticated enough that spotting one isn’t always as simple as telling Mom or Dad not to click a weird link.
So Dublin Police is holding a free session Tuesday night specifically about elder fraud — what to watch for, what to do if a loved one gets caught by one, and how to have the conversation before it happens.
Detective Andrea Shull will be joined by Grace Seipel from Syntero for the discussion, which starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Dublin Justice Center.
It’s free, but the city is asking people to register ahead of time.

A Crash Closed Riverside for More Than Two Hours
What started as a lane restriction on Riverside Drive yesterday turned into a full road closure — and it was more than two hours before everything reopened.
The city’s first alert said a crash north of Tonti Drive had reduced Riverside to one lane in each direction. A later update went further, closing all northbound and southbound lanes between Hard Road and Wyandotte Woods Boulevard.
By the time the city announced Riverside was fully open again, two hours and 20 minutes had passed since that first alert.
We called Dublin Police to find out what happened. They would only confirm that the crash involved a car and a motorcycle and weren’t releasing any other details, including whether anyone was injured.
So there are still plenty of unanswered questions about the crash itself. But the traffic impact gives us at least some sense of the response: what began with traffic squeezing past in both directions ultimately required shutting down that stretch of Riverside entirely, and it stayed an issue for about two hours.
