This Dublin Company Is Going After OSU Talent

We've talked about Cenovus a few times before. The energy company has its U.S. headquarters here in Dublin and runs two large refineries in Ohio.

But you may not realize just how big its Ohio operation actually is.

Cenovus is the largest refiner in the state. Its Lima and Toledo-area refineries employ more than 1,100 people, plus hundreds of contractors. And the company says it spends more than $700 million a year with Ohio workers, contractors and vendors.

That's a lot of engineers and skilled workers to keep hiring.

So Cenovus is going straight to the source.

It just announced it's getting more involved with engineering and business programs at Ohio State. That includes a group of 36 students in Columbus who will spend a semester studying the energy industry and working on real problems alongside Cenovus employees.

And it's supporting programs at Ohio State's Lima and Marion campuses too.

So if you've got a kid studying engineering or business at Ohio State, or headed there, the largest refiner in Ohio is investing in exactly those programs.

And it's headquartered right here in Dublin.

Which Dublin School Landed This Big Show?

A Tony Award-winning Broadway musical is apparently coming to a school here in Dublin.

And the students won’t just be watching it. They’ll be performing it.

“Suffs” opened on Broadway in 2024 and tells the story of the women who fought for the right to vote in the early 1900s. The musical was written by Shaina Taub, who won Tony Awards for both its music and its book.

But Taub has also been trying to get the show into schools.

She recently told an audience at Bowling Green State University that grants are being provided to schools around the country so students can perform “Suffs” without having to pay for the rights.

And apparently one of those schools is right here in Dublin.

The article doesn’t say which one, or when the production will happen, so there’s still quite a bit we don’t know.

But somewhere around Dublin, a group of students is apparently getting ready to tell the story of the women who fought for the right to vote more than 100 years ago.

A Dublin Dad Could Be America’s Super Dad

A Dublin dad is trying to make his way through a national “Super Dad” competition — and so far, he’s doing pretty well.

Chase Burge is currently sitting in first place in his group, competing for a chance to appear in a national Ace Hardware commercial and win $25,000.

There’s still a long way to go, though.

The competition runs through several rounds, with Thursday’s vote simply narrowing Chase’s group down to five. From there, he’ll need to keep advancing before an overall winner is eventually chosen.

And if Chase does make it all the way, he already knows what he’d like to do with most of the money.

After maybe upgrading a couple of tools, he says he’d donate the rest to a charity supporting veterans, particularly those dealing with homelessness and mental health challenges.

Chase says being a dad is about setting an example for his daughters, while watching them grow into people who show kindness, compassion, teamwork and leadership.

Voting is open daily, with free votes available. Donations can also be made for additional votes, with the competition raising money for Children’s Miracle Network.

You Asked How to Help. Here’s How.

A few of you have reached out asking how you can support Dublin Daily — and honestly, it means a lot just to hear that. Here's what actually helps.

The single biggest thing: forward this to a neighbor, a friend, or anyone who loves Dublin and might not know we exist yet. Word of mouth is everything for a local newsletter. Or just share dublinohiodaily.com next time Dublin comes up in conversation.

If you ever have a tip — a local business worth spotlighting, an event coming up, something happening in your neighborhood — hit reply and tell us. That's the fuel that keeps this going.

We also have sponsors who make Dublin Daily free. If something catches your eye, click their links — it makes a real difference.

Thanks for being here. Dublin is a better place to live when we're all looking out for each other — and that's really what all this is about.
