Dublin's Getting Its Own Wayfair, Outlet-Style
If you're anything like my wife or her friends who practically camped out at the Polaris Wayfair the day it opened, you'll be thrilled about this one: Wayfair is opening an outlet store right here in Dublin.
It's going into 6765 Dublin Center Drive, in Dublin Village Center — the spot that served as the library's temporary home while the real Dublin branch was being rebuilt. This won't be a copy of the big Polaris store, though. It's the outlet model: constantly rotating, heavily discounted stuff — open-box items, overstock, discontinued pieces, returns — everything from sofas to dining tables to office furniture.
No official opening date yet, but signs are already up and hiring's underway for sales, receiving, visual merchandising, and furniture assembly roles, so it's moving. Wayfair's own outlet page just says more details are "coming soon."
We'll keep an eye out and let you know the second an actual date drops.

What's Actually Behind Dublin's Deer Decision
Picture walking your dog around the block, like you do every evening — except this time, a deer doesn't bolt when you get close. It stares, then charges, and by the time it's over, your dog's hurt and you're not sure what just happened.
That's not a hypothetical for a lot of Dublin residents. Last year, the city logged about 20 reports of dogs being attacked by deer, plus 35 more of people getting stalked or chased. And that's only what actually got called in — plenty more probably just got posted to a neighborhood group chat and left there. When the city surveyed residents this year, at least 120 people used the open-ended questions to describe a deer that had attacked, charged, or injured one of their pets.
Numbers like that are a big part of why Dublin's already committed to a management program, even though it hasn't started yet. If you want to hear more before anything moves forward, the city's first public education session is Aug. 25 — a chance to ask questions directly to the people running this. More info here.

A World Champion Is Joining Coffman High School
Before Rylen Wax steps foot in a Dublin Coffman classroom this fall, he's already a world champion.
He just got back from Baku, Azerbaijan, with a gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling and a silver in freestyle — one win away from becoming just the fourth wrestler ever to win both styles at the same U17 Worlds. The gold didn't come easy, either: he was down big in the final before turning it around to win it outright.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, he also turned 16, halfway around the world. Sports Illustrated caught up with him after.
This isn't even new for him. He pulled off the same freestyle-Greco double back in the spring at the Pan American Championships. Coffman's coaches didn't even let him unpack — they threw him a welcome-home celebration the second he got back to Ohio.
He hasn't wrestled a single match for the team yet, and he's already got a world title to his name. Keep an eye on this one this winter, and probably many more years to come.
