Dublin Is One of Just 11 in Ohio
Most of us enjoy Dublin's parks, walking and biking paths, pools or rec center from time to time. But did you know that our Parks and Recreation Department is one of only 11 in Ohio to hold a national accreditation?
And it's one of just 232 across the entire country.
Dublin just earned its reaccreditation, which means the city had to demonstrate that it meets 154 national standards covering everything from park maintenance and safety to recreation programs, facilities and management.
What's particularly impressive is that Dublin first earned this accreditation in 2010 and has met 100% of the standards in every review since.
That's quite an accomplishment when you consider the department oversees more than 60 parks, 150 miles of shared-use paths, indoor and outdoor pools, and a recreation center with more than 7,000 members.
So there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than simply keeping our parks looking nice.

Dublin's Little-Known 55+ Hangout
Finding new people to spend time with isn't always easy, especially as we get older. But there's a place at the Dublin Community Recreation Center that's designed to make that a little easier.
It's called The Lounge, and it's a space where adults 55 and older can get together for card games, mahjongg, painting classes, educational programs and plenty of other activities.
And you don't have to be a member of the rec center to take part in most of them. Dublin residents can get an annual Lounge Pass for $24, which provides access to organized games, special interest groups and discounts on certain programs.
For anyone 90 or older, the pass is free. There's also complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and opportunities to simply sit down and catch up with other people.
So whether you're looking for a new hobby, a regular card game or just a reason to get out and meet a few people, The Lounge might be worth a visit. You can see what's happening there here.

Dublin Apparently Has a Friendly Ghost
Did you know Historic Dublin has its own ghost stories? In fact, we apparently have enough of them to keep a ghost tour going for about 15 years.
It all started when Becky Schisler spotted a man standing inside a neighboring business on South High Street, even though the place had already closed for the day.
When she asked about him later, she was told not to worry. That was just “Pete,” the friendly ghost.
Naturally, that raised a few questions.
Schisler started asking around and discovered that other Dublin businesses and residents had their own unexplained stories to tell.
After taking a ghost tour in Gettysburg, she decided to start one here. She began collecting local stories, researching the history behind them and eventually created the Dublin Ghost Walk.
And this Sunday, she's sharing some of her favorite stories at the Dublin library.
But there's something else planned afterward. The Dublin Historical Society is inviting everyone to visit what it describes as “one of Dublin's most haunted locations.”
Where exactly? They're keeping that a secret for now.
The free event starts Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Dublin branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Registration is requested.

A Note From Nick
You Asked How to Help. Here’s How.
A few of you have reached out asking how you can support Dublin Daily — and honestly, it means a lot just to hear that. Here's what actually helps.
The single biggest thing: forward this to a neighbor, a friend, or anyone who loves Dublin and might not know we exist yet. Word of mouth is everything for a local newsletter. Or just share dublinohiodaily.com next time Dublin comes up in conversation.
If you ever have a tip — a local business worth spotlighting, an event coming up, something happening in your neighborhood — hit reply and tell us. That's the fuel that keeps this going.
We also have sponsors who make Dublin Daily free. If something catches your eye, click their links — it makes a real difference.
Thanks for being here. Dublin is a better place to live when we're all looking out for each other — and that's really what all this is about.
— Nick
