There are going to be some unusually young business owners setting up shop today.

OH What a Market is an annual market where every vendor is a kid selling something they created themselves.

That means tables filled with things like handmade jewelry, crochet creations, bookmarks and whatever else these young entrepreneurs have dreamed up — with the kids themselves running the booths and making the sales.

The event is put on by Dublin’s OH What a Space, the children’s learning studio on Commerce Parkway, and the vendor fees from the market are donated to two local nonprofits that support children.

The market runs today from 11 AM to 1 PM at Jacquemin Farms, 7437 Hyland-Croy Road in Plain City. OK, I know, it’s not exactly Dublin. But it’s right on our border, and stories about young entrepreneurs like these are simply too good not to pass along.

So if you have some time this afternoon, stop by. There are some very young local business owners hoping to make a sale.

We’ve told you a few times this year about the Dublin Rec Center turning 30 and all the changes happening inside.

Well, Sunday is when we actually get to celebrate it.

The city is throwing a 30th birthday party for the DCRC Sunday from 1 to 4 PM, with activities throughout the building, entertainment, giveaways and, appropriately enough, birthday treats. The whole thing is free.

And 30 years is a pretty big milestone. Since opening in 1996, the Rec Center has hosted everything from swim lessons and basketball to summer camps, workouts, senior programs and shows at the Abbey Theater. A lot of Dublin memories have been made inside that building.

The birthday also comes right in the middle of the DCRC’s larger refresh. We’ve already told you about some of the new additions, including The Hub and its Respawn Lounge, so we won’t go through all of that again. But the work isn’t finished yet.

The next round of construction starts almost immediately after the party. Crews are expected to begin mobilizing next week for renovations to the Community Hall and restroom areas, with demolition scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 21. That work is expected to continue into spring 2027.

So if the DCRC has been part of your family’s life at some point over the past 30 years, Sunday seems like a pretty good excuse to stop by and wish it a happy birthday.

There is apparently a whole lot of money sitting around with Dublin’s name on it.

The Ohio Department of Commerce released a list of the Central Ohio ZIP codes with the most unclaimed funds, and Dublin’s 43017 is tied for second with about $15 million waiting to be claimed, according to ABC 6. Only Columbus’s 43215 had more, with nearly $24 million.

And this isn’t some government program handing out free money. It’s money that already belongs to people and businesses — things like old bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payments and other funds that eventually get turned over to the state when the owner can’t be found.

Now, there is one Dublin question we couldn’t answer. The Commerce Department’s list highlighted 43017, but we couldn’t find a corresponding total for 43016. So that $15 million isn’t Dublin’s total — there’s additional unclaimed money connected to our other ZIP code as well.

Either way, this seems like a pretty good excuse to search your name. You can also check old addresses, family members or even a business.
