Heads up if you're heading outside this morning
Central Ohio is under a statewide Air Quality Advisory today, and it's worth planning around. A stagnant heat dome is trapping wildfire smoke drifting down from Canada right at ground level, and the air is bad enough that it's worth changing plans, not just noting them.
This morning looks like the worst stretch. You may want to skip outdoor workouts, and pets should probably stick to quick trips out rather than long ones. If your windows are open, this is a good time to shut them — and if your HVAC has a "recirculate" setting, today's the day to use it.
One thing worth knowing: a regular cloth mask won't do much here. The smoke is fine enough that you'd need a well-fitted N95 or KN95 if you're going to be outside for a while.
If you want to track it hour by hour over your own neighborhood, AirNow's fire and smoke map is the one to bookmark.
Worth having on your radar today.

That Kid in the Commercial? He's From Dublin.
If you've caught any TV during the World Cup lead-up, there's a good chance you've seen a commercial about two Ohio State soccer players and how they've battled back from injuries — and one of them is a Dublin kid.
Andre Roberts grew up in Dublin and played at Dublin Coffman, where he led the league in assists and was twice a captain for Ohio Premier. He also spent two years with the Columbus Crew Academy before landing at Ohio State, where he's now a defender for the men's soccer team. The commercial tells his story alongside teammate Ashton Bilow's — both of them have had to fight their way back from injuries that could've derailed everything, and both kept choosing to get back up and return to the game they love.
A Dublin kid who got to train with the Ecuadorian World Cup team based here in Columbus, repping an OSU jersey, and now a commercial that's been getting airtime around town this World Cup season. Worth keeping an eye on where Andre goes from here as he heads into his senior season.

Dublin Wants to Go for Gold — On Two Wheels
Dublin's already the only city in Ohio with Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community status. Now the city wants to push for Gold, and it needs to hear from the people who actually ride here.
The League of American Bicyclists hands out these rankings, and it's not just about how many bike paths a city has. Part of the application weighs real feedback from residents — where the gaps are, what's working, what isn't. That's where you come in if you bike around Dublin at all, whether it's a daily commute or the occasional weekend ride on the paths.
The survey's short, and it closes September 8. You can take it here.
Dublin's put a lot into its bike network over the years — Dublin's own volunteer Bicycle Ambassadors alone log more than 1,000 miles a month checking on trail conditions. If you've got opinions on where it should go from here, this is the moment to say so.

Only 25 Made This List. Two Are From Dublin
Ohio Tech News and OhioX just put out its first-ever AI25 list — 25 people shaping Ohio's AI economy — and two of them call Dublin home.
Gary Heinze made the list for Northwoods, the Dublin-based company he's led since 2003. Its software is used by child welfare caseworkers in all 88 Ohio counties and across 13 states, helping them dig through thousands of pages of case files in minutes instead of hours. The impact isn't abstract, either — the company estimates roughly $50 saved per worker per day in overtime and mileage, and about $54,000 saved every time a county avoids having to replace a caseworker. It's not a flashy corner of the AI world, but it might be one of the most quietly important.
The other Dublin name is Dr. Lakshmi Prasad Dasi, founder of DASI Simulations. His company builds AI-powered digital models of a patient's actual heart, letting cardiologists test out complex procedures virtually before ever picking up a scalpel. The technology's already FDA-cleared and has Medicare reimbursement approval, plus a new partnership with Medtronic.
Two very different problems — one in county casework, one in the operating room — both being worked out by people building their companies right here in Dublin. You can see the full list here.

You Asked How to Help. Here’s How.
A few of you have reached out asking how you can support Dublin Daily — and honestly, it means a lot just to hear that. Here's what actually helps.
The single biggest thing: forward this to a neighbor, a friend, or anyone who loves Dublin and might not know we exist yet. Word of mouth is everything for a local newsletter. Or just share dublinohiodaily.com next time Dublin comes up in conversation.
If you ever have a tip — a local business worth spotlighting, an event coming up, something happening in your neighborhood — hit reply and tell us. That's the fuel that keeps this going.
We also have sponsors who make Dublin Daily free. If something catches your eye, click their links — it makes a real difference.
Thanks for being here. Dublin is a better place to live when we're all looking out for each other — and that's really what all this is about.
