A Dublin Ride Service Most of Us Overlook
It's been quietly running for years — free, on-demand rides around town for seniors, residents with disabilities, and anyone who works here, no matter where they live. Worth knowing about now: there's a new app called Flexigo that makes booking it a lot easier, letting you schedule and track rides right from your phone instead of calling it in.
Worth knowing exactly what it covers, too: for workforce riders, it's specifically for getting to and from your job, not errands during the day, and it runs Monday through Saturday — no Sunday service. Rides depend on vehicle availability, so it's not quite call-a-car-anytime; booking a day ahead gives you the best shot.

Dublin PD is Hiring Interns — And It Pays
If you've got a kid, a neighbor, or you yourself are studying criminal justice or something in that world, Dublin's police department is opening up its internship program again. It's a paid, 16-week gig — $16 to $19 an hour depending on where you are in school — working alongside actual officers instead of just reading about the job.
It's a real commitment: three 8-hour days a week, in person, no remote option. In exchange, interns get to shadow just about every corner of the department — patrol, detectives, the school resource officer program, even the drone unit — and pick up things like ride-alongs and case law along the way.
Open to college juniors, seniors, and grad students, 18 or older. Applications close August 3.

That Lettuce Bug is Bad. Dublin's Got a Fix.
As you've probably heard, there's a nasty stomach bug going around this summer — cyclosporiasis, tied to a lettuce recall that's sent thousands to the bathroom across Ohio. It's got some people rethinking where their produce comes from. The outbreak appears to trace back specifically to imported lettuce, not anything grown here, and domestically grown produce has only rarely been linked to this parasite at all.
Worth being clear: shopping local isn't a guarantee. The parasite can technically still turn up in domestic produce, just far less often — but it's a reasonable, simple way to lower your odds, and you get fresher food either way.
Dublin's own market at Bridge Park is the easy pick — Saturdays, 9 to noon, through the end of September, with more than 140 local farmers, bakers, and makers. That's only once a week, though. If you want more options, The Village Farm Market out in Shawnee Hills is open nearly every day through October — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 10 to 6, Sunday 11 to 5.
