Dublin AI Is Changing the Operating Room

During surgery, nurses have to keep track of every supply and implant being used.

Now a Dublin company is using AI to do some of that for them.

AssistIQ has developed a system that uses cameras to recognize supplies, implants and other products as they’re being used during a procedure. So instead of nurses having to manually record everything, the system does much of it automatically.

And apparently hospitals see some value in it. AssistIQ is already working with health systems including Northwell Health, Allina Health and ProMedica, and says its technology can save nurses and technicians more than 15 minutes per procedure.

The company was only founded in 2022, but has already raised $16 million from investors. And its headquarters are right here in Dublin.

Not exactly the kind of AI company you’d expect to find in an office around Dublin. But a pretty interesting one.

Can You Help Me With Something?

As you know, Dublin Daily is free, and the only way I can keep it that way is through advertising.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve heard from a few local real estate agents interested in advertising. And eventually, the conversation usually comes down to one pretty reasonable question:

If I advertise in Dublin Daily, are there actually people reading it who might hire me?

With more than 4,400 subscribers, I’d be pretty surprised if the answer is no. But I honestly don’t have the facts — so I was hoping you could help me find out.

If you have about two seconds, answer the question below. It’ll give me something a little more useful to tell the next real estate agent who asks.

Are you likely to buy or sell a home in the next two years — and would you consider hiring a real estate agent you learned about through Dublin Daily?

This Dublin Concert Has Been Going for 40+ Years

If you’ve lived in Dublin for a while, you’ve probably heard of Sundays at Scioto. But you may not realize just how far back it goes.

The free concert series at Scioto Park has been around for more than 40 years.

It traces back to 1983, when the Columbus Symphony played a concert for the dedication of Scioto Park. That concert eventually helped inspire both the Dublin Arts Council and the Sundays at Scioto tradition that’s still going today.

And there’s another one today. Mojoflo will be playing at Scioto Park from 4 to 6 p.m., with Paul Valdiviez opening. There’s also an art-making area, and the whole thing is free.

So if you’ve never been, today might be a good time to finally check out one of Dublin’s longest-running traditions.

A Note From Nick

You Asked How to Help. Here’s How.

A few of you have reached out asking how you can support Dublin Daily — and honestly, it means a lot just to hear that. Here's what actually helps.

The single biggest thing: forward this to a neighbor, a friend, or anyone who loves Dublin and might not know we exist yet. Word of mouth is everything for a local newsletter. Or just share dublinohiodaily.com next time Dublin comes up in conversation.

If you ever have a tip — a local business worth spotlighting, an event coming up, something happening in your neighborhood — hit reply and tell us. That's the fuel that keeps this going.

We also have sponsors who make Dublin Daily free. If something catches your eye, click their links — it makes a real difference.

Thanks for being here. Dublin is a better place to live when we're all looking out for each other — and that's really what all this is about.
