Community Spotlight

Neighbors Supporting Neighbors

One of the things I love about writing Dublin Daily is getting to know more of the people and organizations doing interesting things around our community.

There are thousands of businesses, nonprofits and other organizations around Dublin, and I obviously can’t introduce you to all of them. But when one is doing something interesting or newsworthy, I’d love to hear about it - and share it!

Opening a new business? Expanding or moving? Launching something unusual? Raising money for a local cause? Doing something in the community that people should know about? Those are the kinds of stories I’m looking for.

If you’re involved with an organization — or just know of one doing something newsworthy — reply to this email and tell me what’s happening.

Dublin’s Fall Colors Could Be Exceptional

We’re starting to see some fall color around Dublin, but the best is still a couple of weeks away.

And Ohio’s fall color experts think we could be in for a particularly good year.

Unlike the past few years, we’re heading into fall without drought or near-drought conditions. Combine that with the right mix of sunny days and cool nights, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources says conditions are lining up for some pretty vibrant colors.

So when should Dublin look its best? Central Ohio is expected to hit peak color sometime in mid-to-late October.

Of course, weather over the next few weeks can move that around. But at the moment, things are looking pretty good.

So we’ve probably got another couple of weeks before Dublin really starts showing off.

What’s Left at Tuttle Mall?

If you haven’t been inside Tuttle Mall lately, you might be surprised by just how empty it’s gotten.

Columbus Business First walked through the mall in late September and found just 29 occupied stores and kiosks in the main building, compared with 48 last fall.

That’s nearly 40% of its remaining stores gone in a single year.

Bath & Body Works, Hollister and Aeropostale are among the familiar names that have disappeared. Foot Locker, Finish Line, Kay Jewelers and the Buckeye Room are still there, along with Macy’s, JCPenney and Scene75.

Altogether, Tuttle is now down to just 36 tenants, with 72 empty storefronts.

The mall once had more than 100 retailers and restaurants.

Hard to believe this is the same Tuttle many of us remember.

A Note From Nick

You Asked How to Help. Here’s How.

A few of you have reached out asking how you can support Dublin Daily — and honestly, it means a lot just to hear that. Here's what actually helps.

The single biggest thing: forward this to a neighbor, a friend, or anyone who loves Dublin and might not know we exist yet. Word of mouth is everything for a local newsletter. Or just share dublinohiodaily.com next time Dublin comes up in conversation.

If you ever have a tip — a local business worth spotlighting, an event coming up, something happening in your neighborhood — hit reply and tell us. That's the fuel that keeps this going.

We also have sponsors who make Dublin Daily free. If something catches your eye, click their links — it makes a real difference.

Thanks for being here. Dublin is a better place to live when we're all looking out for each other — and that's really what all this is about.
